Yellow "H" hydrant sign

I've often wondered what these Yellow "H" signs that you see all over the UK are. I've finally pulled my finger out and done the research (i.e. I googled it).
They indicate that there is a fire hydrant nearby.
The top number is the the size of the water main in millimeters. The bottom number indicates the distance to the fire hydrant in meters.
